fitting shoulders fitting the back quick tips

A prominent shoulder blade and a rounded back look quite similar on a garment so most people solve both issues in the same way. The trouble is they require different pattern adjustments. A rounded back needs more length at center back. A prominent shoulder blade needs the extra room over the shoulder blade itself, and using the rounded back adjustment to solve it often leaves you with excess length at center back, a new issue that replaces of the old one.

In this video I show you how to tell the two apart, why the difference matters, and how to adjust the pattern so the adjustment lands exactly where a prominent shoulder blade needs it. If you've been making a rounded back adjustment that never quite solves the whole issue, this is likely the piece you've been missing.

If you'd like a framework for the whole fitting process, not just the back, my free Perfect Fit Guide walks through the essential steps in the order I teach them.
