#43 Three Ways to Manage the Back Shoulder Dart
The back shoulder dart has an important job. It creates the volume needed to fit the curvature of the upper back and shoulder blade and that job is worth preserving.
This video is for anyone who wants the fit the dart provides without it being visible in the finished garment. Three methods are covered: moving the dart to the neckline where it's less visible, converting it into a yoke seam, and eliminating it from the pattern entirely while dispersing the volume as ease into the outer edges.
That last method in particular is worth understanding. The dart can disappear from the pattern without losing what it was doing for the fit.
This is the third video in a series on pattern making skills for fitting. If you're just joining, start with the first two videos below.
