ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Join Alexandra Morgan on beautiful Salt Spring Island in this beginner apparel pattern making workshop held in partnership with the Salt Spring Arts Council.

In this 2 1/2 day workshop you will learn proven fashion industry pattern making techniques to professionally draft the women’s woven bodice and skirt block using your individual body measurements for a personalized fit.

Participants will leave the class with a bodice and skirt block drafted to their personal size and the knowledge of how to make the blocks for any set of body measurements.

THIS WORKSHOP IS PERFECT FOR YOU
  • if you are an aspiring designer, beginner pattern maker or home sewer wanting to develop your own patterns from a well fitting sloper (basic pattern).
  • if you want to understand how patterns work so that you can improve your sewing, fitting and pattern skills.
  • if you have completed several apparel sewing projects and own a portable sewing machine that you can bring to the workshop.
  • if you have lot's of enthusiasm and patience for detailed work and aren't afraid of a little basic math.
A FEW IMPORTANT DETAILS

Drafting paper and some tools will be provided for your use during the workshop. Muslin and other supplies will be available for purchase. Please wear a tank top and leggings to ensure accurate measurements, as well as a calculator, paper and fabric scissors, and a sewing machine.
