What is the focus of this workshop?

This workshop will focus on teaching you and guiding you through the process of fitting a garment. The goal is to provide you with strategies for recognizing, assessing, and solving your personal fit issues on a sewing pattern of your choice.

Do I need experience working with block patterns?

No. In this workshop you will work through the fitting process using a sewing pattern of your choice. You'll get the most satisfying results if you choose a simple pattern so that you can apply the techniques quickly and easily. Once you understand how the process works, you can move on to more complicated styles.

Will I end up with a pattern that will fit me?

That's the idea! I suggest you bring a tracing of simple sewing pattern to the workshop and work through the Fitting Fundamentals process in a step-by-step fashion along with me.

Can I bring my own garments with fitting issues to get help with?

Rather than bring a finished garment, I'd rather see you work through the fitting process starting at the beginning with a sewing pattern and working through the first fitting sample. This way I can walk you through the fitting process from start to finish and you can witness the other participants progress too. Practicing the entire process will give you the skills you need to work on your next project with confidence.

What is the class size?

The class will consist of 8 participants. This will ensure that everyone gets lots of personal attention, there is ample space to work and we cover the content in the allotted time.

What Should I Bring?

You'll get all the details when your registration is confirmed but plan to bring a sewing pattern fitting project to work on, all your sewing supplies and your portable sewing machine.
