Demystify the fitting process by spending the day with Alexandra Morgan in this live in-person fitting fundamentals workshop.
You’ll learn what good fit looks like, how to prepare yourself and the garment for a fitting, how to recognize fitting issues and in what order to work to keep the fitting process moving forward.
Ten of the most common fitting issues and their causes and resolutions will be discussed, demonstrated and practiced using scaled basic block patterns. We'll cover length adjustments, shoulder angle, centre back length adjustments, shoulder position, neckline balance, upper and mid-back contour shaping, bust volume, back width and bicep girth.
You'll create a pattern work notebook demonstrating all of the pattern adjustment techniques covered so that you can reference what you've learned over and over again.
The focus of this workshop is on woven bodice fitting. By the end of the workshop you will understand how to assess fit correctly and methodically and how to make the corresponding pattern adjustments to reflect the fitting changes needed.
The maximum number of students is 12 to ensure everyone gets their questions answered and we cover the content in the allotted time.
When your registration is complete, you will automatically get access to the online portion of the workshop where you'll get additional information about the location, what to bring and the day's itinerary.

"I took a chance spending the money to travel from Vernon to attend this workshop and it was worth every penny. Not only will I travel again to attend future workshops I will become a faithful subscriber to all on-line workshops you have to offer. You are a treat to learn from Alexandra. Thank you for a very rewarding day."
"It was a good learning environment and a thoroughly enjoyable day. Pictures of fitting problems were helpful and your technology use made it easy for all of us to see what you were doing in real time. Again, thanks Alexandra for a relaxing day of learning in a lovely setting.

This workshop will focus on teaching you the process of fitting and will provide you with strategies for recognizing, assessing, and solving fit issues. The 10 most common fitting issues found in woven tops, dresses and jackets will be discussed along with their pattern adjustments in order to show the fitting process in action. Pant fitting and knit garments will not be discussed directly in this workshop but may come up in discussion during the workshop.
No. I will be using the basic hip-length bodice block for demonstration purposes because it is the basis of all tops, dresses and jackets. You will use scaled basic block patterns to practice the solutions to all of the fitting issues we cover. I will guide you as you practice the exercises.
We will not be working on individual projects during the workshop. The purpose of this workshop is to introduce the process of fitting so you can understand how to recognize, assess and solve fitting issues. If you use the techniques that you learn in the workshop you will improve your fitting skills.
I would love to have some real life examples of fitting issues for discussion and will use them if they apply to the content being covered in the workshop, but this is not meant to be a one to one fitting session. As a participant of the workshop you will receive a 10% discount on a private session where we can discuss your specific fitting issues.
The class will consist of 7 to 12 participants. This will ensure that everyone gets their questions answered, there is ample space to work and we cover the content in the allotted time.
